Ragi chocolate milk shots

Ragi, also called as finger millet, is one of those millets which is used extensively and widely in India. You can make a lot of dishes with ragi, like ragi idli, ragi dosa, ragi porridge, ragi cakes etc. I can say this is the only millet that can be given to infants and is also easily digestible.

I am making ragi porridge by adding chocolate to it so that it lures the kids to try it out. I am sure they will love this.

Ingredients:

Ragi powder: 1 tbsp
Milk: 50 ml
Chocolate: 20 grams
Honey: 1 tsp
Water: 50 ml

Method:

  1. Add some water to pan, put a small bowl in the water and add chocolate pieces to the bowl. Close the lid. This is called double boiling method. You can melt the chocolate in this way or in the microwave.
  2. Once the chocolate melts, remove the bowl, throw away the water.
  3. In a small bowl, add ragi powder and mix with water to make a paste. Do not make it too thin.
  4. Put a pan on the stove and add water.
  5. When it comes to a boil, add the ragi paste and stir continuously so as to not leave any lumps.
  6. Add melted chocolate and milk and stir again.
  7. Add honey and let it cook for 2 minutes till all the rawness of ragi powder is gone.
  8. Serve it hot.
