Coconut halwa


I just love coconuts. Give me coconuts any day any time, I am going to have them. Instead of making chutneys and coconut rice, I thought of making a sweet out of it. This yummilicious dessert is a must try. Load it with dry fruits of your choice and impress your loved ones. 

Preparation time: 10 minutes

Cooking time: 20 minutes

Ingredients:

Grated coconut: 1 cup
Sugar: 1/2 cup
Milk: 100 ml
Ghee/ clarified butter: 3 tbsp
Cardamom powder: 1 tsp
Saffron strands: 4-5 soaked in 2 tbsp warm milk 

Method:
  1. Grate the coconut and keep aside.
  2. Heat a pan, add ghee and roast some dry fruits. Keep them aside.
  3. Now add some more ghee and saute the grated coconut till it turns golden brown.
  4. Add milk and sugar and let it cook on slow flame.
  5. Add cardamom powder and saffron milk.
  6. When the ghee starts to separate, take it in a serving bowl and garnish with dry fruits.
