Wheat flour biscuits
Wheat flour biscuits! These are also called as khajur at our home. One of my husband's favourites. His sisters always make and send for him. Recently I have started making them with few modifications and Mr. C likes them. So, Yayyy, Winner!!! 😆
The modification I have made is, I did not add sooji. If you like you can add and try. For 1 kg wheat flour add 100 gms of sooji. Do let me know in comments.
Let's get down to the making.
Ingredients:
Wheat flour- 1 kg/ 4 cups
Sugar- 500 gms/ 2 cups
Cardamom- 5
Eggs- 4
Butter- 4 tbsp
Fennel seeds- 2 tbsp
Poppy seeds- 3 tbsp
Baking powder- 1 tsp
Baking soda- 1/2 tsp
Oil, to deep fry
Method:
- Take 4 cups of wheat flour in a bowl. Take a wide mouth bowl, it makes mixing easy.
- Blend sugar and cardamom seeds together.
- Add to wheat flour.
- Add eggs, butter, fennel seeds, poppy seeds, baking powder, baking soda and mix.
- Add water little by little and mix well.
- Make a lump as you make for parathas.
- Now take a rolling board, apply some oil and sprinkle some poppy seeds.
- Take a medium size lump of the wheat flour mix and roll it on the board with rolling pin.
- Sprinkle some more poppy seeds and press gently with rolling pin.
- Cut the biscuits in your desired shape.
- Heat oil in a pan and deep fry the biscuits.
- Enjoy at tea time.
